Pines of all shapes and sizes line the place where expectant mothers come to give birth. There are no predators and fighting has been banished from this area. Dead pine needles are comfortable to lay on when the mare is ready to give birth. Sunlight is able to come through easily warm the area up. After getting past the line of trees, there are actually few within the area. It is almost like it is a protection for the mares.
