Sparse trees dot the landscape of this small valley, leaving everything open to the naked eye. A small pond lays in the center of the valley. The sides of the valley are not that steep, making them easy to climb in and out of. At night though, the predators come out. During the winter, the valley is bitter cold at the top and only a tiny bit better below. The small pond only brings so much refreshment for the tired horse. During the summer it usually dries up. But there is grass aplenty as far as the eye can see. This is a safe place for lone horses to come without the fear of getting claimed by one they do not want.

Cliffs jut above with almost no way to escape. Not far from the more pleasant Willow Dale lies a trap for any unsuspecting mare. Death rots the interior, some places almost black with the nightmarish shadows of the afterlife. Evil lurks within the corners. A small creek runs through the middle, but the water is murky. Some skeletal remains can be found in here. Crows swarm above, waiting for their next meal. There are days when little sunlight is able to penetrable the obsidian depths of this place. There are few exits and few that actually travel in here. Tread lightly, because it may just be your last breath...

You worm your way through a narrow gorge, once filled with a roaring river, now is only inhabited by the odd end lizard, dust, and rocks. Its seems barren, lifeless, working your way down the dry path. Is this hell? Is death nearing with each step? The red, dusty hills you saw on either side of this ravine only becoming you deeper into the desert? But then, before you know it, the gorge opens, the desert is gone- and a looming equine shape stares at you curiously, guarding the entrance to a sudden, lush wonderland.

A towering mountain looms ahead, smaller ones framing a large, picturesque lake, green dotting the mountainsides, all capped white. Valerius is an oasis for anyone who tries to make their path their, although the winter's are harsh, the rest of the year is mild. The mountains are filled with lush, pine forests, although the trees around their bases, surrounding the mountainside river-fed lake are seasonal, changing colours and loosing their leaves. Here, the Royal herd of Valerius lives in various cliff-side niches and clearings on the mountain, and along its base.

There are few ways in and out of Emerald Thicket because of the thick trees that stand guard over the herd. The trees are so thick in many spots there is no way of getting through. Sunlight only filters through small areas, so mainly one must focus on their other senses to make it through. But it is worth the jaunt. Inside the herdland are wonders to be found. The ground slopes upward as one climbs up, the crashing of water being heard for miles. When one reaches the top, a look down tells what they found. Many waterfalls of various sizes line the cliffs from various rivers into one pool at the bottom and a large river from there. It is truly a sight to be seen. Some have caves where the equines can take shelter if under attack or during inclement weather. There are also caves throughou the woods for protection whenever needed. Here the King and Queen of the neutrals reside.

Within the farthest reaches lies a paradise. However, the word paradise only applies to a selected few. Large, directly in the center of the chamber lays, the well; it is the first thing you stumble upon; the smell is gut wrenching with the scent of the unseen dead that float in the ashen water. Their bile, poisoning the land around it. To each side is a clay made tunnels, chambers guarded by the unknown, so none of their captive can escape. One entrance, and one exit. Make it to the border and you life just might be handed back to you, but if you don't start praying.
